And now the end is near
We have just booked our tickets back to the Netherlands. It was mental barrier to bridge, but the tickets are bought. The return flight to the Netherlands doesn’t mean a fresh new start, it is the end of the journey as we now experience it.
We arrived in South Africa at the end of September and will leave this beautiful country at the end of October. We then fly from Johannesburg to Sydney, Australia. We are going to enjoy Oz for four last weeks. But then it’s done. Regretfully.
As far as we are concerned (Ewout and Susan) we could have traveled for many more months. Preferably with Bloomie. But as we wrote earlier, it is becoming a long journey for the little girls. Too long for Anna. Although she enjoys and enjoys the activities of the day, she misses friends and family in the Netherlands and Switzerland. She lacks a permanent place.
Time to make choices
Next month we will travel to Australia. A country where we want to experience the culture in real-life. A country where we might want to live and work. Ewout has done some applications and is working a few connections. However in the meantime, we are also thinking about what if that doesn’t work out as we wanted? That is a fairly difficult question to answer.
The Netherlands, Switzerland or …?
We will first go back to the Netherlands. Anna has been looking out to ‘Sinterklaas’ since she really experienced that last year for the first time. We will be back in Holland for that typical Dutch festivity. If we do not have any strong leads for work opportunities in Australia, then the Netherlands or Switzerland are the numbers two. Or three or four. Many countries are in our top 10, but we now focus on the prime candidates.
Whilst we write this, we are enjoying South Africa. A country that is for sure in our top 10. A country where we would love to live at some point. It has sun, sea, beaches and wines. A country with a special history but great culture. But especially a country where we feel right at home every time we visit. A warm and welcoming country, at least, that’s how we experience it.
Time for us to hope and pray for the right opportunity for the Bouwmanni’s in Australia. Or if that doesn’t work out than in The Netherlands, South Africa, Switzerland or …? If you are aware of any, let us know! And if you know a house available in the Netherlands from December onward please let us know too. This entry was posted in Uncategorized
